Through its Management in Innovative Health Chair, EDHEC supports the translation of innovative technologies into routine clinical practice by conducting interdisciplinary research at the intersection of healthcare innovation, digital health, implementation science, health systems transformation, ethics and AI governance. Role within TWIN-X

EDHEC contributes Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) expertise to ensure that TWIN-X develops trustworthy, equitable, and human-centred AI for precision medicine.

Its work focuses on integrating social determinants of health (SDOH) and equity considerations into the project’s methodological framework, including equitable data governance approaches, fairness assessment, and cultural bias detection across socioeconomic and demographic groups. EDHEC also leads participatory governance and co-design activities involving patients, clinicians, and caregivers, ensuring that stakeholder perspectives are embedded throughout the development process.

In addition, EDHEC contributes expertise in human-AI interaction, explainability, and technology adoption in healthcare. This includes the assessment of cognitive load, clinician acceptance of AI-assisted decision-support systems, and the evaluation of how AI-generated explanations influence clinical reasoning and decision-making.

Through its SSH perspective, EDHEC addresses the ethical, societal, and regulatory implications of generative AI in healthcare, while supporting the development of transparent, accountable, and socially robust solutions aligned with European values and regulatory frameworks. By embedding considerations related to trust, fairness, human oversight, and healthcare inequalities, EDHEC helps ensure that TWIN-X accounts not only for biological factors, but also for the social, cultural, and environmental determinants that shape health outcomes across diverse European populations.
