German Oncology Center
The German Oncology Center (GOC) is a comprehensive cancer center based in Limassol, Cyprus, dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered oncology care while advancing cancer research and innovation. GOC provides multidisciplinary services across the full cancer care continuum, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, supportive care, and survivorship. The center brings together specialists from medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, hematology, imaging, pathology, and allied health professions to ensure integrated and personalized treatment approaches.
Research is a core pillar of GOC’s mission. Through active participation in national and international research initiatives, clinical trials, translational research projects, and collaborations with academic and healthcare partners, GOC contributes to the development of innovative solutions that improve cancer outcomes. The center is committed to excellence, continuous improvement, and the adoption of evidence-based practices, aiming to bridge cutting-edge scientific discoveries with clinical application for the benefit of patients in Cyprus and beyond.
Role within TWIN-X
GOC acts as an independent validation partner within TWIN-X. GOC contributes clinical expertise in both oncology and cardiology and is involved in several areas of the project. It provides independent datasets and blinded validation tasks in cancer and cardiovascular care. GOC also carries out acceptance testing of the demonstrators across oncology, cardiovascular, and mixed clinical cohorts and provide operational feedback. GOC also leads the retrospective validation study, working closely with multidisciplinary tumour boards specialising in liver, lung, and upper gastrointestinal cancers. To support the responsible use of AI, GOC evaluates how clinicians understand and interpret AI-generated explanations through preregistered human factors studies. In addition, GOC deliver clinical case-based sessions in cardiology and oncology and serve as faculty for hands on evaluation exercises. Finally, GOC provides an external prospective validation site in distinct health system that improves generalisability
