Institut za onkologiju Vojvodine – Oncology Institute of Vojvodina
The Oncology Institute of Vojvodina is a renowned healthcare, educational, and research institution. It is equipped to perform highly specialised preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitation procedures and treatments for cancer patients. The Institute is one of the leading institutions in the region for cancer surveillance, public health monitoring, and the operation of the population-based cancer registry. In addition, it conducts epidemiological studies and multidisciplinary clinical research on precancerous and malignant diseases, while developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. The Institute provides professional supervision and expert support not only within its own clinics and departments but also to oncology departments and outpatient healthcare institutions throughout the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
The Institute is a member of the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI).
Role within TWIN-X
- Preparation, digitisation, quality assurance, and management of whole-slide images (WSIs) according to standardised protocols suitable for AI-based analysis, as well as the creation of high-quality expert annotations of histopathological structures that provide reference standards for AI model development.
- Harmonisation of pathology-derived biomarkers with radiological, genomic, laboratory, and clinical data to support the construction of patient-specific digital twins capable of predicting disease progression and treatment response.
- Providing pathological expertise to ensure that AI-generated outputs remain biologically plausible, clinically interpretable, and aligned with established diagnostic standards.
- By supporting the development of standardised pathology datasets, metadata structures, and annotation protocols that facilitate interoperability across participating institutions, we will contribute to seamless data interoperability.
